Andy Warhol at the Silver Factory
NEW YORK - 1966: Artist and filmmaker Andy Warhol poses for a portrait while sorting through actor's resumes, headshots, screen tests, and film reels in 1966 in his studio, The Factory (famously known as the Silver Factory), at 231 East 47th Street in New York City, New York. The studio was called the Silver Factory because the walls were lined in Reynolds Wrap aluminum silver foil. Around this time, Warhol had completed his most famous film, Chelsea Girls (1966), featuring Velvet Underground singer and chanteuse Nico (Christa Päffgen) and dozens of artists, actors, and his celebrated 'Superstars', Warhol's entourage that 'hung out' at The Factory.
